About Us

United Mechanical, a Fidelity Building Services Group company, has been earning the respect and trust of our customers since our founding in 1987. From our humble beginnings in Ft. Myers, Florida, we have grown to a team of over 180 men and women who pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence and 100% customer satisfaction. We strive to adhere to our core values of doing it RIGHT every time.

“Our mission is to establish a culture that supports our Team Members in providing the highest quality services with absolute integrity for the benefit of our customers, Team Members, and our community.”

We consider Team Members more than just “workers” and we target highly motivated individuals whose attitude and work ethic are in line with our core values. We emphasize the importance to our technicians of leaving your home “as clean if not cleaner” than when they arrived.

Our History

United Mechanical was founded on June 18, 1987, by Harvey Clark, P.E., and operated from a small office over a car repair shop on Collins Avenue in Ft Myers, Florida. Harvey was instrumental in the development and advancement of the Southwest Florida ASHRAE Chapter.

Harvey owned and operated the company from 1987 until his retirement in 1998. In the company’s fledgling years, Harvey and one full-time estimator, Kermit Rood, managed to bid, negotiate, and secure enough work to keep a small, but extremely competent workforce busy and profitable.

United Mechanical’s field operations manager and Vice President, Dave McArthur, was also an integral part of the company’s early success and growth. With these key leaders and the hard work of their Team Members, Harvey successfully grew the business in a relatively short period of time. In 1998 Harvey was succeeded by his brother, Michael Clark.

Mike worked under his brother’s tutelage for several years prior to stepping into the role of company President and was well prepared to build on the foundations prepared by his brother.

Under Mike’s direction, United Mechanical continued to grow until it surpassed its office space on Metro Plantation Road. In 2012, United Mechanical moved into its current, more spacious location at 8170 Mainline Parkway in South Fort Myers.

President Don Pine

Upon Mike’s retirement in 2022, Don Pine was named President of United Mechanical and today, he continues the efforts of those before him in leading the company as the region’s most respected mechanical contracting provider. In addition, Dustin Clark was promoted to Vice President of United Mechanical.

United Mechanical has been involved in notable projects including Lee Health, Golisano Children’s Hospital, Florida Gulf Coast University, Lee County Public Schools, Gartner, Ritz Carlton, Lee County Government, Suntrust Bank, FineMark Bank, and hundreds of other projects in Southwest Florida.

Our company’s success is built upon the cornerstones of higher quality standards and precise workmanship. They have been a part of our philosophy and our everyday operating procedure since our company was founded in 1987. We have always felt strongly that simply following minimum specifications would not be enough.

We knew we had to put something special, something of ourselves, into each step of the greater process. That sense of pride has nurtured our business from the beginning with smaller jobs growing to large-scale projects, adding Team Members, departments, and capabilities along the journey.

Many years of commitment and valuable experience at the technical and management levels would provide the foundation from which we would grow. Belief in honest practices and responsibility would be the framework around which we would build.

Pride in doing superior work would be our reward and yours. United Mechanical constructs quality systems to an impressive range of specifications for projects of all sizes, scopes, and types.

Our extensive resume demonstrates experience in a broad range of mechanical systems and designs, including chilled water, condenser water, and thermal storage applications, creating comfortable environments in a wide variety of facilities such as hospitals, schools, government buildings, churches, auditoriums, and correctional facilities.
