“Our mission is to establish a culture that supports our team members to provide the highest quality services with absolute integrity for the benefit of our customers, employees and our community”.

United Mechanical Team

We consider our employees more than just “workers” and we target highly motivated individuals whose attitude and work ethic are in line with our core values. We emphasize the importance to our technicians of leaving your home “as clean, if not cleaner” than when they arrived.

We understand that air conditioning can be an intimidating, technical topic to most homeowners. Our goal is to not only provide air conditioning services but also to educate you, our customer, on ways to improve air conditioning efficiency, extend the life of equipment and to control costs through regular maintenance.

Many local residents have had unfortunate experiences with A/C contractors in our service area. We are licensed and pull permits on all jobs that are required. We want the opportunity to earn your trust and be a provider you can depend on. We look at each relationship with our customers as an opportunity to be a valuable partner. If you are not completely satisfied, we will make it R.I.G.H.T or refund your money.

Our History

United Mechanical was founded On June 18, 1987 by Harvey Clark, P.E. and operated from a small office over a car repair shop on Collins Ave in Ft Myers. Harvey was instrumental in the development and advancement of the Southwest Florida ASHRAE Chapter.

Clark owned and operated the company from 1987 until his retirement in 1998. In the company’s fledgling years, Harvey and one full time estimator, Kermit Rood, managed to bid, negotiate and secure enough work to keep a small, but extremely competent workforce busy and profitable.

United Mechanical’s field operations manager, Dave McArthur, was also an integral part of the company’s early success and growth. With these key employees and the hard work of their employees, Harvey successfully grew the business in a relatively short period of time. In 1998 Harvey was succeeded by his brother, Michael Clark.

Mike worked under his brother’s tutelage for several years prior to stepping into the role of company President and was well prepared to build on the foundations prepared by his brother.

The company continued to grow under Mike's direction, until it outgrew its office space on Metro Plantation Rd. In 2012, United Mechanical would move into its current location at 8170 Mainline Pkwy in south Fort Myers.

UMI has been involved in such notable projects as Lee Health, Golisano Children’s Hospital, Florida Gulf Coast University, Lee County Public Schools, Gartner, Ritz Carlton, Lee County Government, Suntrust Bank, FineMark Bank, and hundreds of other projects in Southwest Florida.

President Michael Clark

Our company’s success is built upon the cornerstones of higher quality standards and precise workmanship. They have been a part of our philosophy and our everyday operating procedure since our company was founded in 1987. We have always felt strongly that simply following minimum specifications would not be enough.

We knew we had to put something special, something of ourselves, into each step of the greater process. That sense of pride has nurtured our business from the beginning with smaller jobs growing to large-scale projects, adding staff, departments and capabilities along the journey.

Many years of commitment and valuable experience at the technical and management levels would provide the foundation from which we would grow. Belief in honest practices and responsibility would be the framework around which we would build.

Pride in doing superior work would be our reward…and yours. United Mechanical constructs quality systems to an impressive range of specifications for projects of all sizes, scope and type.

Our extensive resume demonstrates experience in a broad range of mechanical systems and designs, including chilled water, condenser water and thermal storage applications, creating comfortable environments in a wide variety of facilities including hospitals, schools, government buildings, churches, auditoriums and correctional facilities.
