Spotlight on Local Engineer - Andrew C. Äsk PE

We are extremely proud to announce that one of our own local Engineers has once again received national recognition. On February 2, 2020 Andrew (Andy) C. Ask, P.E., Esq., received the “Fellow ASHRAE” award for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the Society and the Built environment in the areas of education, research, engineering design, consultation, publications, presentations and mentoring. Andy is a Life Member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers) and has been a licensed Engineer since 1969. Many United Mechanical Employees have had the pleasure of serving with Andy during his ASHRAE Career.

Andy received his undergraduate Mechanical Engineering degree from Iowa State University and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Akron School of Engineering. Andy is the former director of the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA), and was inducted into the “IAQA Hall of Fame” in 2018. Andy Annually presents at the Building Sciences Corporation Symposium for Moisture Control, and has authored several books on the topic. His most recently published book titled “H2NO: Mechanical Systems and Moisture Control” is an authoritative book on Moisture control and humidity. His book is available here.


United Mechanical is extremely fortunate to have a strong working relationship and friendship with Andy that has remained steadfast for over 20 years. When interacting with Andy you can always expect to be educated, challenged and learn something new. He is very forthcoming with information and is always eager to listen to your thoughts and ideas.
